In the midst of launching apparel, working on the brand, creating a podcast and planning out 2020, we decided to add a fulltime 40-hour job into the mix.
We have big goals, huge dreams and for us to be able to accomplish them we realized that we need capital and a bit of stability to be able to manifest the things we want quickly.
To be honest, the decision was hard and we were back and forth for a few days but when Cierra found a great opportunity that would allow us to maximize our time and be able to work from home we decided to take it.
We submitted our resumes, had a couple of interviews and within a few days, we were hired.
This company is super aligned with our values and now that we have been training for a week, we are so happy that we can be apart of an inclusive, collaborative and adventurous community.
So, where did we get hired?
Mountain Equipment Coop! If you haven't checked out MEC before, we encourage you to become a member and check out their gear. This magical adventurer destination sells everything you need for camping, kayaking, skiing, biking and so much more.
MEC is Canada's go-to place for outdoor gear, know-how and inspiration, MEC is a co-op owned by the people who shop here.
We are proud to be MEC employees and represent everything they stand for. We are proud to work with a coop that gives back to the community and their members.
Working a full-time job isn't ideal when you're working on your own project but honestly, we couldn't have asked for a better opportunity to work with MEC.
Cierra was running her own company before we met and our first plan was to work abroad but plans changed and she decided to focus on writing her book and build out Cierra and Mike. Money is crucial for creating our brand so we decided to get a full-time gig to be sustainable. Her pride was not shifted going from full-time entrepreneur to now full-time employee and full-time entrepreneur because she believes in trusting the process and leaning into the bigger picture. If anything it motivates her.
Mike planned on working abroad but after some logistical issues, he needed to figure something else out in the meantime. This wasn't downgrading, this was moving in the direction of abundance and freedom.
Sometimes we have to do things that are hard, challenging, uncomfortable to get ahead in life. Don't be afraid to get a job or do things that will allow you to push your goals forward, faster.
If you want to manifest the life of your dreams, get clear on what it is you want, ask, believe and show up to everything that is calling you.
This job was calling us so we ran towards us. Who knows what will call us next but we are showing up, you should too.
Peace, love and carrots,
Cierra and Mike
