We love smoothies and one of our priorities is to take care of our health from the inside out.
With all the talk about the flu going around we want to make sure our immune system is in tip top shape so we created a little vitamin c booster smoothie to get you through this mid February chill.
We love using fresh fruit in a smoothie but lately it's been hard to come by especially on a budget. A few weeks ago we were cruisin around Walmart for frozen fruit and found these incredible frozen bag blends that have different fruits and veggies, they are called Great Value Easy Blends.
We picked up the Passion Burst flavour which has frozen bananas, mangos, strawberries and passion fruit and created this beauty. It was so delicious and not overwhelmingly sweet.
We added Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts, Chia Seeds, Bob's Red Mill Flax, a carrot and an extra banana.
We usually use nut milk in our smoothies but opted for water which we were happy about.
Check out the recipe below and let us know what you think.
Vitamin C Boost Smoothie
1 Cup of Water
1 Cup of Great Value Easy Blend Passion Burst
1 Banana
1 Carrot
1 Tablespoon of Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts
1 Tablespoon of Chia Seeds
1 Tablespoon of Bob's Red Mill Flax Meal
Toss all ingredients into blender.
We used our Cuisinart Canada Hurricane Pro Blender which took only 12 seconds to blend everything up to the perfect consistency (even with a full carrot)
Pour into a cup and enjoy with a reusable straw. PS: Don't forget to compost.
Peace, love and carrots,
Cierra and Mike,
