This week we are inspired by Ruth Martin, a gal who is a full-time student who makes time to talk to the world about food and nutrition. We love Ruth's consistency, drive and passion for her work.
Ruth is a full time student studying human nutrition and the creator of her own page called Ruth's Recipes where she shares her healthy recipes and love for health and wellness.
Cierra originally connected with Ruth over Instagram months ago and noticed how driven and focused she was for her passion for food, nutrition, health and wellness.
Ruth has built an online community and her favourite part of it all is meeting and connecting with new brands and people.
Ruth explained that this year she has gotten to know so many people through her Instagram and turned those online relationships into real ones. She also mentioned that she loves inspiring people around her to live a healthier lifestyle and introduce them to new tips, tricks, products and brands.
When building something you love, challenges can arise so we wanted to know what hurdles Ruth has had to jump over to continue building her brand. She said fear of failure and judgement were two major hurdles. "There were many months where I was too scared to share things I have been passionate about or wanted to do because I did not think they were good enough. I am finally in a place of confidence and I owe it to all of my family and friends who have supported me," said Ruth.
In the midst of overcoming her fears and learning a lot, she has accomplished greatness this past year and worked with some huge brands including, Banza pasta, Vital Proteins, GoMacro and local restaurants. She also launched her first-ever website where she will be writing blog posts and posting recipes, we are dying to check out her recipes.
Being inspired in the health and wellness space is vital to be sustainable, consistent and relevant. Ruth explained that she finds inspiration in other health and wellness bloggers as well as some people in her inner circle who have turned their passions into careers and businesses.
With all the love for her page and the time she spends in her schooling, we really wanted to know how she slows down and shows up for self-care.
"For self-care I love to take myself to a coffee shop and sit down with an oat or almond milk latte with my laptop. I love investing my time on myself in cute spaces like local coffee shops and they are where I feel the most creative and inspired. And in my home space, I love to light a soy candle, enjoy a face mask and listen to soft music." said Ruth.
Lastly, we asked her to share some advice for someone who is looking to start a page, blog or business. Her response was this, "My advice is go for it! Even if you are afraid of failure or think you are not good enough because chances are if you are passionate about something, you will make it work. It took me 2 years to get my Instagram to the place where it is now but I have no regrets."
Ruth inspires us by following her passion, finding the time to create and manage her page while in school and continue to grow and be inspired. We love following along and seeing what shes up to every day. Her food recommendations are so handy and we are stoked for her to build her site.
We encourage you to check out Ruth's Recipes and follow her journey.
