a weekend in Moncton

Updated: Oct 10, 2019

Last weekend we stayed in Moncton with our friend Marc and adventured around the area.

Gordon Falls, Elgin, New Brunswick

On Friday we woke up and went to Starbucks to post our Visit Fredericton Video. If you haven't seen it yet, watch it here and then after that, we met up with our pal Marc and our new friend Gab, who is a photographer and creative from Moncton who started a New Brunswick Photography Group on Instagram.

Our first stop was this really cool historic site called Sunny Brae Rink. It was built in1921 and hosted concerts for 2000 people.

After that we drove up the road to the University of Moncton and walked around the community garden. Marc and Gab walked and we climbed a tree.

Later that day we went out for dinner and had drinks with a few more people including Mike's hometown friend Micky and Dave Gallant creator of Gridless Life.

On Saturday, we drove out to Kent Hill Wind Farm which is a massive acreage with wind turbines surrounded by forestry. The views were absolutely beautiful, especially in the fall with all the different coloured trees.

Marc knew of a road that led to a beautiful lake called Black Wood Lake which was tucked in the trees so we hung out around there for a bit and took some pictures.

Our next stop was the Gordon Falls (seen in the first photo) where we planned to meet another photographer in the New Brunswick group named Jeremy. We didn't have any cell service but right when we arrived a car pulled up and there was Jeremy. An example of how the universe always has your back.

We hung out at Gordon Falls for a half hour and then went to go meet Dave from Gridless Life at a beautiful sunset lookout in Memramcook to be interviewed for his podcast.

Dave is creating a community of like minded people who believe in living life on their own terms. We talked to him about how we met, what we do and how we plan to continue to travel. Stay tuned for the interview release.

After the interview we went back to Moncton and visited Mike's mom.

On Sunday, Marc, Jermey, Gab and us all drove out to Rexton, NB (Mike's hometown) to visit Liberty Village, a new cottage resort opening up in 2020 by Sawyer Hannay, founder of Country Liberty.

Next on the itinerary was to visit Kouchibouguac National Park to take a ton of beautiful photos of the trees. We also were hoping to see some bears but we didn't get very lucky. This park is stunning and we highly recommend visiting. They even have teardrop mini cottages to rent over night that look extremely cozy

Once we checked out all of Kouchibouguac National Park we had some lunch at A&W, Beyond Burgers of course and then went to Bouctouche Dunes where we took a nice walk on the beach and boardwalk. If it wasn't so cold it would have been a great place to hang out for the day.

Lastly, our final stop was back at Liberty Village to enjoy the sunset and a campfire.

The weekend was absolutely jam packed and we are so grateful we could experience all the places with our friend Marc and new friends Gab and Jeremy.

This coming weekend Gab and Marc will be visiting Halifax from Moncton and all of us including Jeremy will be going to explore and adventure around the area.

We are so grateful to have some stellar like minded friends who we can be creative and innovative with.

Stay tuned for next weeks blog to find out what we end up doing.

Peace, love and carrots,

Cierra and Mike
